As far as my garden goes, many of the plants are from my previous gardens in Kentucky and North Carolina. As we moved, I have been able to move a few things with me or get starts again from family members and friends that I have given things to over the years. I have several plants from my Grandmother who is now deceased, and my mother, sisters, and friends.
Some of my plants are starts from plants that I bought over 25 years ago. My interest in gardening all stemmed from a family who has had a love of gardening my entire life. Dean Schertz, of Brown Hill Nursery, was responsible for most all the landscaping around the house, but the perennial bed by the water was here when we moved eight years ago, but, like many gardeners, I have moved plants, reshaped beds, and added to what was there.
There certainly was a basic border when I started adding, but I now have Siberian Iris, Louisa and Crown of Glory Hosta, Butterfly Bushes, Euphorbia, Hellebores, Japanese Anemone, Mary Todd Day Lillies (as well as several other varieties), and Grape Velvet Lilly of the Valley. All of these plants are considered my "heirloom" plants which came from my first home or family. Also, in the back beds, but not by the lake, you can find Festiva Maxima Peonies.
The Cox’s "Heirloom" Garden is at 6045 Channel Drive
